My role for this project was to create an illustration series that depicted the 'pre-fall', 'the fall', and 'post-fall'. Based off of the research that was done, I felt that it was important to depict a night scene because 59% of accidental falls occur at night. Most falls occur because a patient has tripped over a piece of medical equipment or the patient is not wearing their 'no slip' socks. Once the illustrations were created, I developed a brand for the Falls Prevention VR SIM that included a logo, an icon, and a complete style guide.
Falls Prevention VR SIM
The Falls Prevention VR SIM provides supplemental training to new-to-practice nurses (NPNs) to prevent the risk of patient falls in the hospital. This immersive training experience simulates an environment where nurses are expected to vigilantly identify hazards in the room, to minimize risk of patient fall occurring. This prototype will enhance awareness, increase learner motivation, and increase automaticity for NPNs in their falls prevention practice.
